    Danger, Mouse

This little guy (or girl) was in my garage yesterday, for how long I don't know. When I came out first thing in the morning, there he was, just lying on the floor. I got right up close to him, and could see he was breathing. But he wasn't moving. Was he sleeping? Unlikely, since he would have scooted as soon as I opened the door. Was he dying? I didn't know what to do, so I just let him be.

When I came home later that day, he was gone. It's possible the Red Tail Hawk, Laki Neho, swooped into the garage while I was gone and nabbed him. Or maybe he woke up, yawned, and went about his business. I guess I'll never know.

I've always been aware of all the wildlife that inhabits my property with me, but especially so over the last year. Knowing that I'm surrounded by all these creatures great and small helps me stay connected to life. It helps me stay in gratitude. So to all the fauna and flora that live here with me, thanx. I hope you enjoy my presence as much as I enjoy yours.

    Mescaline & Christmas Lights

I got this effect by leaving my shutter open for a few seconds and wiggling my camera around. I took a bunch of photos like this, and got lots of cool shots. They're all photos of the same thing, but they all look completely different depending on how long I set the shutter speed and how I moved the camera.

Despite the title, no mescaline was used to create this photo. It may have been used, however, to come up with this analogy: How we see something is partially a function of how open we are and in which direction we're moving.

    Purple Haze at Alta

I ordered up this purple sky last March when I was skiing in Alta, Utah.

    Vinyard Sound Sunset

I took this picture in the winter of 2004. I happened to be by the Falmouth Yacht Club, where I played many a dance in my youth, one January afternoon and luckily had my camera.
