    Purple Drums

These are my drums. Actually, I have more than one set. These, however, are very special drums. I had them custom made out of birch by Joe McSweeney from Eames Drums in Saugus, MA. They're more like fine pieces of furniture that also sound amazing. The color is unique too. Instead of using a color already available, I found my own. I researched for months, talking to furniture makers, painters, and drum manufacturers. Finally, unable to locate a color through traditional means, I went to an art supply store and bought a bunch of oil paints. Oil paint, I discovered, is simply pigment and linseed oil. I brought a bunch of these to Joe, and he diluted them with oil and applied them to some scrap pieces of wood. This color jumped out at me like a Jack In The Box. Nobody else I know has used art store oil paint in this application. So these could be the only drums of this particular color in the world. That thought makes me smile.

Show Up. Open Up. Pony Up.

From atop my widows walk, I placed myself against the backdrop of the sunset one cold night just before Christmas in 2004. My unexpected silhouette produces a much more powerful picture than what I originally envisioned, which was to be able to see my face. As with so much that I create, when I just show up, open up, and pony up, the universe does the rest. In those exquisite moments, I co-create with all that is.

    Storm Clouds

One of the many perks of living on the ocean is the unobstructed view of the sky. Clouds, water, and sunlight dance inspired upon a massive canvas. All I have to do is pay attention.

    First Frost

Had our first visit from Jack last night here in North Falmouth. Jack Frost that is. To see all the pictures I snapped bright and early on this glorious morning, click here. Or go to the photo album Pictures To The Stories and click on the First Frost album.

    Feather & Fur

A family of bunny rabbits inhabited my property this past summer. Almost every night from June unil late September, I would see them gorging on the banquet of my green, tasty, lawn carpet. I once counted seven bunnies simultaneously having dinner in my yard. Mom and dad played lookout, while the five babies munched on.

Unfortunately for the rabbit family, a hawk also started hanging around as well. Gorgeous to witness, he would hover about twenty feet above ground and scan for movement. As this picture illustrates, he found some.

I appreciate the cyclical aspect of nature. Birth and death, and birth again. And I'm saddened by the loss of one of my unofficially adopted pet rabbits. I buried the fur out back.
